neck pain exercises

By michealwiliam at 2010-11-16 06:11:08
Does it sometimes feel as if your head is just too heavy for your neck? Sometimes, neck pain can be severe and can limit mobility, which can cause problems when it comes to driving, sitting, sleeping and, almost every part of your life. Other times, while neck pain may not be severe, your aching neck can be causing you to suffer from headaches and shoulder pain. If these symptoms affect you and your life,But here is the good news; the majority of the pain as I have written about before is from poor posture. If you are in pain, please read 'why does my neck hurt?' to understand what's happening and how to fix it. Also read 'the neck pain exercises' to help counter balance all of the looking down and forward head bending that we tend to have to do during our day.Another surprise to me was the weight loss was ranked 6th best for relief. It does not say how they lost this weight so it is hard to tell what the reasons were. I would think that if it was through exercise it would have been very beneficial. Quite commonly people become couch potatoes and slouch around all day, or spend a lot of time at the computers in poor posture so the simple fact that they got out of their chairs and started an exercise regime could very well have helped their necks.

Stretch your arms in front of you, parallel to the ground at shoulder height level and palms of both the hands should be facing ground. Close the fists in such a way that your thumbs remain inside; rotate your fists in clockwise direction. While rotating fists your hands should remain straight & may not bend at elbow.Of course, number three is correct because if you continue to aggravate your shoulder, continually straining your joints and muscles by holding this 40lb bag of potatoes you will continue to have pain. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to know this. You wouldn't spend you hard earnt money on treatments to try to fix your pain when you know your pain will be fixed by simply fixing the cause of your pain. You would simply stop causing your pain right?

So to become and remain pain free, the first and most important step is to check your posture is excellent at all times. This means that your ear is above your shoulder from a side on view, and not forward of it. Also, when you are sitting you must be sitting erect instead of slouching. It is impossible to put your head into a good postural position if your lower back is not in good postural position. Therefore, make sure you are sitting tall which makes your muscles of your back work rather than slouching which rests on the ligaments and pushes the discs backwards. Some of the easiest neck exercises are rotating the neck in a clockwise fashion. Just bend the neck. Let your chin touch your chest. Now, roll your head to your right, so that your ear touches your shoulder. After that, slowly and steadily roll your head backwards towards your left shoulder until your left ear is able to touch your left shoulder.
